"And let us not grow weary while doing good, for, in due season, we shall reap

if we do not lose heart." Galatians 6:9

The parable of the Chinese Bamboo Tree teaches us lessons about patience, faith, perseverance, growth, and development. Like any plant, to flourish, the Chinese Bamboo Tree requires nurturing – water, fertile soil, sunshine. Yet, there are no visible signs of activity or development in the first year. In the second year, again, no growth above the soil. And the third and fourth, still no signs. And finally, in the fifth year – behold, a miracle! We experience growth. And what growth it is! The Chinese Bamboo Tree grows 80 feet in just six weeks! With plants, we typically observe what is above ground, not the vital part underneath—its root system. The first primary function of roots is to keep plants upright and stable. The plant root system anchors the plant in the soil and provides physical support. So often, we can get discouraged when we feel like things are not moving forward or nothing is changing. Maybe you don't understand why things are happening, or your prayers are not being heard. When times get tough, or something you have been working hard for is not happening as quickly as you think it should, it can be hard to keep pushing forward. Don't grow weary; God is building a strong, stable root system to anchor you in Him, and in due time just like the Chinese Bamboo Tree, you will experience tremendous growth and reap the harvest. Root Down And Do Not Lose Heart! REFLECT

Take a moment to journal how you have grown over the last year! Reflection can play as a powerful tool to remind you how far you have come!
