See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland. Isaiah 43:19
I was a flight attendant for 13 years, became a yoga teacher and yoga studio owner for over 10 years, and then most recently an Executive and Life Coach for the last four years. Looking back, all of these experiences have served me well, and each one has assisted the next. However, I have recently discovered that it is easy to find your worth in your achievements, title, people, and accomplishments.
Which led me to think about what happens when all of that is stripped away? Who are you? What a big question! Cause who wants to have everything stripped away! And yet so many of us are having precisely that experience. Our jobs, financial security, friends, family, physical touch, freedom of movement, travel, and more. And it can cause a bit of an identity crisis, I think, cause when we find the things that give us our sense of worth and they change or are taken away, it can cause us to wonder.
I love the quote by J.R.R. Tolkien "Not all those who wander are lost."
If you feel like everything you know has changed or has been stripped down to nothing emotionally, physically, mentally, and spiritually and you're wondering "Who am I?" "Where do I fit in?", that doesn't mean you are lost, it means God is working on you. He is stripping things away that you don't need anymore. He is building new things into you, even when I can't see them.
I invite you to feel the pain, grieve the losses, wrestle with the "why's and trust that God is doing a new thing!.
